Values
At The Glapton Academy, we offer an exciting Music curriculum that hopes to create excitement and inspire children into a love of music. We want the children at Glapton to ‘get the bug’ of music. We strive to expose the children to a range of music and genres throughout their learning, We aim to increase their cultural capital by allowing them to experience a broad range of musicians and musical styles. We hope that pupils are introduced to music here at Glapton and that it is only the start of their journey, and that they may continue to sing or play an instrument through secondary school or into future life.
Subject Aims
The Glapton Academy Music curriculum was developed in line with the National Curriculum. Our aim is for the pupils of Glapton to know about music and enjoy it. Listening to it, talking about it and playing it. To develop skills in critically listening to music, creating and performing music as well as developing an understanding in the importance of music in history and society are embedded in our Music curriculum. We aim to offer pupils a way of expressing themselves in ways that might not otherwise be available to them.
