Welcome to the Alder Class Page!

I’m Mrs Ralph and I work with Mrs Eden-Smith to teach the wonderful children in Alder. I am responsible for ensuring that the school learning environment celebrates, supports and reflects the learning of the children in school. I am also the KS2 Moderator.  I love watching the children grow and supporting them to reach their full potential.

I am Mrs Eden-Smith and I work alongside Mrs Ralph in Year 4, teaching Alder class. I am responsible for developing Oracy across school, as well as partnership with parents. I believe that collaboration is essential for success and, by working together, we can help the children to achieve great things.

Last Wednesday, we celebrated European Languages Day. We spent the morning talking in French. We practised asking and answering questions such as; How are you? What is your name? Where do you live and how old are you? We then created our own comic strips to show two characters have a simple conversation in French. Have a look at some examples below! In the afternoon, we learned British Sign Language. We learned the alphabet and practised signing our own names as well as some key topic vocabulary.

Today was Times Table Rockstar day in school.  We had lots of fun using the TT Rockstar app on the iPads to practice our times tables.  We worked together to see how many coins we could earn.  Please encourage your children to practice their times tables at home using Times Table Rockstar’s as often as possible.  Good knowledge of times tables will support them in lots of areas of the Maths curriculum.
